Trailblazers REBRAND

Modern day NBA teams seem to change their appearance and branding annually. Some teams, in fact, debut a new alternate uniform every year. The Portland Trailblazers are a team that is long overdue for a rebranding makeover. For this reason, I took it upon myself to give the franchise a facelift.

COLOR

PALETTE

The first thing I decided to do was add another color to the Team’s main color palette. I chose a vibrant pastel green to celebrate the city of Portland’s proud green initiative. The newly added tertiary color fits in well with the overall scheme.

Logo

With the new logo, I wanted to utilize an organic tone as opposed to the rigidity of the old logo.

Logo

A more organic looking logo was inspired by Portland's organic nature as a city. Living in the city for a total of about six months over the course of four years, I can test to Portland's unique attitude. I tried to materialize this feeling by livening the logo with a botanic inspiration. The old stagnant rectangle is replaced with a circular "Portland Trailblazers" seal.

The center graphic is reminiscent of a rose to represent Portland as the "Rose City"

NEW

UNIFORMS

After much sketching and drafting of uniform ideas, my final version emerged.

The new uniforms were inspired by peices of the previous uniforms as well as new accents such as the stripes which represent the thorny rose stem.

NEW

COURT

The court maintains the simplicity of the past courts in Trail Blazer's history with the exception of a few added details. The center court dons the new logo while the out of bounds .line as well as the seats, are now green. The wood is also laid in a herringbone pattern.
